The Glen Innes & District Chamber of Commerce Inc. was formed on 17th February, 1921 with the adoption of a constitution which had been developed by a small Sub committee.

Sadly that Chamber did not last long! Again in 1930 a meeting was held following an advertisement in the Examiner. This meeting unanimously voted to form for mutual benefit and the welfare and progress of our town. Mr F.S. McKenzie said that it was of paramount importance that this group succeeded because the first failure was partly because the business community would not co-operate and he was determined to show that success was the only through the fullest possible degree of co-operation. "Your Chamber was again resurrected in 1998 by the Council and a dedicated band of people who are still working on your behalf. With the Annual General Meting coming up in September this year, why not think about taking a position and lighten the load for us all! Even if it is a sub committee on a particular aspect that is important to your business!"

Our Mission Statement :- "To encourage business opportunities and co-operation between the Chamber of Commerce, Glen Innes and Severn Shire Promotional Board and other organisations."

The key Objectives are:- To act as a pro active facilitator; To raise the Profile of the Chamber of Commerce; To disseminate pertinent information to and from the business community; To actively participate with Glen Innes and Severn Shire business and community organisations.
